The West Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Office is pleased to provide the TRIAD program to senior citizens in West Feliciana Parish.
TRIAD is an organization established in 1988 through a cooperative agreement between The American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), and the National Sheriffs’ Association (NSA). TRIAD stands for “The Right Information and Direction.” The mission is to create a specialized way to guarantee the safety of older citizens throughout the United States. The widespread acceptance of TRIAD led the NSA to form an associated and institutionalized non-profit called the National Association of TRIADs.
The uniqueness of TRIAD is that all members who participate have the same goals in mind: to assist seniors by providing law enforcement services and reduce criminal victimization of the elderly. It is senior-led and has much to offer to those whom are older and fear crime or the possibility of being the victim of a crime. Programs and events such as house numbering, drug take-back, providing smoke alarms, fans and heaters, and assisting with Food Bank distribution are some of the ways our outreach program serves our community. TRIAD also creates educational opportunities where elders can learn about home safety, banking scams, consumer fraud, elder abuse, shopping safety, and other issues which may apply to them.
The bonds formed between law enforcement and senior citizens are what make TRIAD an exceptional establishment, and The West Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Office is proud to be a supporter, member, and leader within the TRIAD community.
